Drill Training: Session 1

Now Darran has stopped laughing, I can report on my first training session with the drill and battery driver I had for my birthday.

Score out of 10: 4

It took me over a minute to drill my first hole; Darran had to check the drill was working properly and proceeded to drill the hole in about 5 seconds. The screw gun was in reverse gear when I tried the first screw - but how was I to know?!

In my defence I don't think this was a training session. This was a 'give Katie the tools, a drill, a screw and a scrap piece of wood, stand back and watch' session.

Birthday Present #2

Here is a picture of the actual drill set I got for my birthday.

Darran didn't think the picture on the post below was a good enough resemblance!

Birthday Present

It was my birthday yesterday and my lovely husband gave me my very own battery drill and screwdriver (they look like the picture, but mine are white) in their own shiny case!

I will now be able to feel a bit more useful as I can drill holes and screw in screws (and unscrew them again when I've put them in the wrong place!), so I think I am now down to put up the plaster boarding.

I am being trained on a scrap piece of wood on Saturday.

Apparently I am also allowed to use them unsupervised. Woo Hoo! The house is my oyster!

To Pick Up Our Pieces......

Look at our new toy! After much deliberating over whether we bought a trailer to help with the transportation of materials to and from site, or a small pick-up truck, we decided on the truck.

One of the key factors was the access to the plot. As we've mentioned before, this is narrow and has a dog-leg turn; not something easily negotiated by a van and trailer, so the truck it was.

We bought it from ebay, picked it up on Saturday from Penrith and drove it back to Mum and Dads where it will stay. The journey back was good fun (even if we were overtaken by a caravan on the M6!), Darran now has the hang of the steering too so roundabouts should be better executed next time!
